Classic car expert Klaus Overmann

Yellow angel and at the same time one of the most experienced classic car mechanics: Klaus Overmann from Münster is the savior in an emergency when the beloved car breaks down during a rally. At the FIVA World Rally 2021 from September 1 to 5 and the Youngtimer Westfalen on September 18, he will once again use his expertise and a lot of heart and soul to get a number of oldies going.

How did you get the job as a so-called classic car expert?

Cars are my passion. Even as a child I tinkered with soapboxes, as a teenager I built a kettle car with a moped engine, and in the German army I worked on tanks. In the nineties I drove autocross, the car for which I had completely rebuilt myself. As a trained car mechanic, I started working for the ADAC road patrol in 1997. After I became team leader in Münster in 2006, the classic car rallies were added.

How does it feel to be the Yellow Angel of the rally?

Simply wonderful! Helping out and getting the beloved automotive treasures running again – that’s what my job is all about. When I look at the beaming faces of the participants, it makes me happy and also a little proud.

What are you most looking forward to?

I’m most looking forward to the beautiful historic cars that will once again be on the road on great routes in NRW. And, of course, to the exchange with classic car fans and that very special tingle in my stomach when I can save a classic car again.
